A terrible accident involving three vehicles; a Toyota Sienna van, a Camry and a Honda CRV happened at about 7:00 PM, Thursday, December 9th, 2021, along Onitsha Enugu expressway, Amawbia (opposite Emma Pet Filling Station) 300 meters away from Dunamis Church, Awka, Anambra State.
The head-on collusion occurred when a Toyota Sienna Van while descending the Amawbia Flyover heading towards Enugu had a burst front tyre on the passenger’s side, ran into a Honda CRV from the back, and then smashed into a Toyota Camry car which was driving against the traffic on the major road.
Both male drivers of the Sienna (2004 model) with Registration Number Lagos MUS-699- CD and Camry (2005 model) with registration number Anambra AJL-342-TS were rushed to a hospital with varying degrees of injury, while the female driver of the Honda CRV did not sustain any injury. Thankfully there was no fatality.
An eye witness, (the female driver of the Honda CRV) spoke to this reporter on what happened, she said “the Sienna van was descending from the bridge on high speed, before he had a burst tyre and hit my car from the back the impact made him to loose control before running into the oncoming Toyota Camry ” she explained.
The Road Safety officials are currently at scene removing the wreckages of the two Toyota vehicles which had substantial damages.
