Barr emeka eugene Aneke, winner best customary Court chairman 2021 during the event

Hon Justice Chibueze George Nnamani, President Customary Court of Appeal Enugu has said that Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Ezeagu branch has become a trailblazer in innovative bar activities.

Justice Nnamani gave the remark on December 10th at the dinner and award night to mark the end of the law week of the branch.

According to him, the Dinner is an event to wine down from the stress of 12 months calendar of legal struggle and stress.

He enjoined lawyers to step down, wine , dine and dance to be in a better frame of physical and mental alertness to confront the legal work load of 2022.

The keynote speaker, Senator Prof Ike Ekweremadu, former Deputy Senate President in his key note Dinner Address which hinged on the theme of the week ‘Nigerian Security Challenges and the Rule of Law’ took the lawyers and other guests down memory lane.

He distinguished community policing from community police and stressed that Nigerian security challenges will be highly reduced when government gives serious attention to State police creation from whence community police and community policing can anchor it root and existence.

“The security situation where a police officer from Zamfara state will be posted as police officer to a rural community in Imo state (for instance) will be mechanical, as the police man will first start from learning the language of his new environment.”

Highpoint of the event was the decoration of Senator Ekweremadu with an Excellent Award for Community Service.

Also during the event, Hon Justice Ngozika Oji emerged the best performing Judge in the state for 2021, Chief Magistrate Chijioke Idu as the best Performing Magistrate for the year 2021 and His Honour Emeka Eugene Aneke as the best performing Customary Court Chairman.

It could be recalled that Chief Magistrate Chijioke Idu is winning the award for two consecutive years having won same award in 2020.

Other personality received various grades of award while others were admitted into the EZBAR hall of fame. Barr Anthony Obinna Mogboh (JT) SAN; became the First recipient of EZBAR Man of the year Award.

Among other recipients of the EZBAR Award include Mrs Philomina Nnamani (Best Court Registrar High Court & Cust Ct of Appeal) and Anthony Ogu (Best Registrar Magistrate court).

In the Community Service award Category include: Johnmary Chukwudi Anagolu, Emmanuel Edeh of Elohim Aluminium, Rev Fr Jude Ikechukwu Ani PhD, Dr Sam Ugwuozor , Julius Nwankwo among others.

In the entrepreneurial category were; Obinna Eziokwu MD/CEO Devon Hotel & Suites Abakaliki, Ojielo Ozonnia Matthew of United Nations office in Kyrgyz Republic, Rev Fr Prof Christian Anieke Vice Chancellor GO university dotted this award category, while four persons were admitted into EZBAR Hall of fame among whom are Dr Jude Eke Bursar University of Nigeria, Rt Hon Dennis Amadi Oguerinnwa Member House of Reps Nigeria, Dr Dennis Madu among others

In his remarks, the branch Chairman of NBA Ezeagu, Chief Nnadiume Awforkansi (Ochiagha) thanked their guests and awardees for coming.

He stressed that recognition of the awardees is a call for more service since the awardees can now see that their service is recognized by persons outside their own immediate setting.

He thanked his colleagues and branch members for making the law week memorable especially his planning committee headed by Ozo Barr C C Chibuko.

Dignitaries that also graced the event include: Hon Justice Harold Eya Admin Judge Nsukka Division and HRH Igwe Barr Emeka Ugwu, the Girigiri I of Ugwogo Nike and the traditional Ruler of Ugwogo Nike Community, who was the Royal Father of the event.
