Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force have announced a the arrest of specialized syndicate that steal vehicles in the state after sending “Fake Credit Alert” to the unsuspecting car dealers.

Parading the suspects on Thursday at the Command’s headquarters, the Commissioner of Police CP Abubakar Lawal, fdc, said they were “arrested at different locations in Enugu State between 7th and 13th December, 2021, by Police Detectives attached to Anti-Robbery Section of State CID Enugu, following the receipt of a report and intelligence gathered on their criminal activities.”

CP Lawal also revealed that “the criminal syndicate is specialized in stealing cars by fraudulently sending fake credit alerts to unsuspecting car dealers, as payment for the purchase of cars and other items within Enugu and other parts of the country.

“Meanwhile, vehicles of different makes and other incriminating items were recovered from them, while further discreet investigation to arrest other members of the criminal gang at large is ongoing at Anti-Robbery Section of the State CID Enugu.”

Speaking further, CP Lawal said the suspects after acquiring the vehicles from the original owners, go ahead to resell the vehicles as theirs using Fabricated receipts.

“When you see them, they will appear like genuine car dealers without knowing that the vehicles were fraudulently procured from their original owners.”

The Suspects include; Odoh Tochukwu aged 23, of Obed Camp, Ngenevu, Coal Camp, Enugu, Ifenyinwa Okonkwo (f) aged 23, of Ugwuaji Street, Maryland, Enugu, and Ogbodo Chukwudi Emmanuel aged 28, of Brown and Brown, Independence Layout, Enugu.

While commending the operatives of the command for their exploits, the Police Chief also applauded Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State for his unwavering support to the command and assured that all hands will continue to be on deck to ensure that the pease being enjoyed in the state isn’t truncated by any hoodlum.

“The Executive Governor, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has truly shown that he is a worthy Chief Security Officer of the State, as his financial, material and moral supports, have immensely contributed to this and many breakthroughs.”

The vehicles recovered by the security operatives include: 3 Toyota Corolla Cars,1 Toyota Camry (Spider) Car, 1 Black-coloured Toyota Hummer Bus and 1 Daihatsu Hi-jet Mini Bus.

Also, 26 Pieces of sales invoice bearing ‘Silver Motors Limited’ and ‘Ezenwa Motors’.

He assured that the suspects will be arraigned in court to face trial for their crime.
