…Stakeholder hails Governor Ugwuanyi for standing for equity and fairness as always

The ambition of the incumbent chairman of Ezeagu local government area, Chukwudi Ani, to return to ‘Igbudu Lodge’ for a second term has come to an end as the mayor popularly known as ‘Salty’ won’t be returning for come February 2022.

Journalist101 gathered that despite the existing agreement reached in 2019, Salty was making serious moves to retain the office even when the zoning arrangement doesn’t favour his area; Central.

However, whatever permutation the chairman who recently embarked on face saving projects in some parts of Ezeagu is doing has amounted to nothing as the Stakeholders have reaffirmed the existence of the zoning arrangement which favours Southern area of the council.

During the Stakeholders meeting held at Government House Enugu on Tuesday, a source privy to the meeting told JOURNALIST101 that Dr. Festus Uzor took the meeting down memory lane since the return of democracy in 1999.

Uzor, who’s the Chief of Staff to Enugu State Government established that Ezeagu Central where the current chairman hails from has held the position for 12 years North, 8 years and the favoured South 4 years only.

According to a stakeholder who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, “despite the beautiful rendition of Dr. Uzor which made nonsense of the quest by salty to return, in 2019, was unanimously agreed that the next four years will be shared between the South and Central and because the deputy governor is from central, she was allowed to choose the zone that will go first and she chose their zone.

“We were miffed when we learnt that Salty, who has performed below average is nursing the ambition of a second term when he was the chairman of the party when this agreement was reached. Anyway that ambition has been laid to rest today,” the source said.

Another stakeholder from South who spoke to our correspondent said “Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has once again, demonstrated his belief in equity, truth and justice.

“It’s our turn to produce the Chairman of the Council area and we are happy the Governor supported our agitation.

JOURNALIST101 learnt that when the outgoing chairman was called to come and thank Ndi Ezeagu for the opportunity to serve, wlhe was visibly shedding tears as he never saw it coming.
