I call for justice, equity and fairness to prevail in the cause of the 2023 Guber race. Therefore, an indigene of Nkanu East LGA should be supported to emerge as successor to Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to continue his good work in 2023. For equity, fairness and justice other local government areas in Enugu East senatorial zone should give Nkanu East a chance because it has neither produced a governor nor a senator for the zone since its creation in 1996.
The zoning arrangement in Enugu state began in 1992 with Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo from Enugu-North. He was succeeded by Sen. Chimaraoke Nnamani from Enugu-East Senatorial District. (Who is from Nkanu West) Sen. Nnamani was succeeded by Mr. Sullivan Chime from Enugu-West, which completes the rotation. What it simply means is that the new rotation started from Enugu-North with Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and to keep the rotation going, it is the turn of Enugu East with Nkanu-East producing one of her own as the next governor.
Nkanu-East has never been elected as governor of the state or a Senator representing the Enugu-East Senatorial District, since it was created in 1996 by the former Nigeria Head of State, Late General Sani Abacha. It’s no doubt that we have some illustrious sons from Nkanu-East whom are very much capable to continue the good work of His Excellency Rt Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi
However, some persons from other zones are beginning to position themselves to join the Enugu 2023 Guber race which is clearly out of place and improper because these people have not accepted and considered equity, justice and fairness in the cause of their ambition. Enugu State has a zoning arrangement, and it should be kept and respected for the interest of peace, equity and justice.
I want to specially commend our Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his unprecedented love for the good people of Enugu State. I call him an established leader who is being celebrated widely because of his closeness to the people and effective delivery of dividends of democracy in spite of the nation’s economic challenges.
Your Excellency, now that you have done exceptionally well, we the youths of Nkanu nation and Enugu State at large are happy. When we are celebrating you, we are appreciating you; it means we are applying for more. We know that you will continue to distinguish yourself creditably and define leadership and ensuring you equity, fairness and justice in Enugu State come 2023.
