A section of the Federal ministry of finance headquarters in Abuja was on fire.
A source at the ministry revealed that the fire was noticed around 6:50 am when some some staff of the Ministry noticed smoke emanating from the room that housed the battery for an inverter.
The fire was however reported to have been put off with fire fighting equipment within the Ministry stressing that the effect of the fire incident is minor as it only affected the basement of the Ministry.
The ministry confirmed the incident this morning in a tweet on its official Twitter handle.
“NewsFlash: The Federal Ministry of Finance HQ is not on fire as reported on social media. Rather, there was an incident on the corridor in the basement involving an isolated battery Pack (photo inset). It was quickly put out by the security personnel on duty”, the tweet said.
