…Call on Government, Security Agencies and Nkanu Stakeholders to join hands to avoid further occurrences
Following the violent attack of 23rd February in Nkanu West and Enugu South Local Government Areas respectively by some hoodlums during the LGA Election, the Leadership of Nkanu Youths Worldwide has condemned in its entirety the attack which left many dead and several properties destroyed.
“We, the youths of Nkanu land totally condemn this ugly incidence. We are in sorrow over what we heard and witnessed yesterday in our land. It is totally condemnable,” the statement which was issues by the trio of Comr. Monday Diamond Ani (Odoziobodo), Comr. Chidera Peters Okoye and Comr. Prince-will Ugwu C., the President, Secretary and Public Relations Officer of NYC respectively reads.
” Our people should know that peaceful and diplomatic politicking is the best form of politics and should be practiced at all time in order to avoid casualties.
“We passionately appeal to any of our youths who might be involved or be part of this evil act to desist from it, denounce it and join hands to build a better and safer Nkanu land and Enugu State in general.”
The group also commended the efforts of Enugu State in tackling the situation and sympathised with the families of the victims.
“However, we commend the Enugu State Government’s efforts in synergy with the security agencies for their prompt response to forestall this heinous act of killings, kidnapping and destruction of properties being perpetrated on our people.
“While we sympathize and console with the families of the victims, especially those who lost their precious lives, properties, and valuables while they patriotically came out to exercise their civic responsibilities yesterday during the Local Government Election, we call on the Government, Security Agencies and Leaders of Nkanu land to intensify efforts and join hands together to forestall further occurrence of such for we can not run away from our territory.
“What happened yesterday took place during a Chairmanship Election, what would happen if it is House of Assembly, National Assembly, Governorship or Presidential Election? So we will all lock up ourselves inside our houses because of political hoodlums?
“Our Stakeholders in Nkanu land, especially in Nkanu West and Enugu South should as matter of urgency, jettison the ideology of political differences anchored on unnecessary rancour and rise up against this menace that is fast threatening our safety because lives, once lost, can never be regained, and as such, of inestimable value.
“Please, let us keep our differences apart and secure our territory for the future of our youths, children and next generation.”
