The Oyo state government has said it has recorded four deaths in the recent Lassa Fever out break in the state.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Bode Ladipo, disclosed that 19 cases were recorded in the state.

Mr. Ladipo said Four health workers were admitted into the treatment centre in the early days of the week of which all tested positive to Lassa Fever.

“Unfortunately, three of them, consisting of two doctors and another hospital staff, died in spite of all efforts at caring for them by experts,” he said.

He further listed the symptoms as fever, sore throat, vomiting, generalised body weakness, chest pain, back pain, cough, diarrhea, swollen face, eyes or neck, stomach pain or bleeding from ear, eyes, nose, mouth, or any other body openings.

He called on the people of the state who are experiencing any of the above symptoms to visit a nearby health facility.

Mr Ladipo further advised residents to stay away from rats, contaminated food items by rat faeces, urine and other body fluid.
