The Anambra State Police Command has described as “complete mischievous scheme by mischief makers”, the report that the convoy of the Federal Government’s team that went to inspect the pace of work at second Niger bridge was involved in a fatal accident.

On Wednesday, there was a widespread report in various online news platforms that the convoy of the team which has the Chief of Staff to the president and three Ministers were involved in an accident in Asaba.

DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, the PPRO Anambra State Police Command in a rejoinder sent to JOURNALIST101 said the report is false adding that what happened never involved the team from FG.

Ikenga explained that what happened involved the the backup vehicle in the entourage of Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command which fell into a pit while negotiating a bend leading to the construction site of the second Niger bridge in Asaba, adding that no fatality was recorded.

The rejoinder reads:

“The attention of the Anambra State Police Command has been drawn to a recent publication from different online media’s and some of the known National dailies tagged CONVOY OF FG’S TEAM TO SECOND NIGER- BRIDGE INVOLVED IN ROAD CRASH in Asaba. it is not only false but a complete mischievous scheme by mischief makers.

“The Command’s reaction is predicated upon to set the records straight contrary to the sensational report making the rounds on the social media. The Command wishes to state as follows, the backup vehicle in the entourage of Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, while negotiating a bend leading to the construction site of the second Niger bridge in Asaba fell into a pit. However, out of seven Police operatives in the vehicle three sustained minor injuries were taken to the hospital and have since been discharged.

“Furthermore, the CP also urge the media to always verify information from the Command and ensure that what is been published is authentic to avoid misleading the general public.”
