Hon. Chijioke Edeoga

Amidst tears, excitement and out pouring of emotions, Hon. (Barr.) Chijioke Edeoga, State Commissioner for Environment and Solid Minerals, has resigned from the Enugu State Executive Council, and bade farewell to staff of the Ministry where he served last.

In his farewell remarks, Edeoga expressed immense gratitude to God for the time and period he superintendent over the affairs of the Ministry as a Commissioner from 2019 to the date of his resignation.

He thanked the management and staff of the ministry for their undiluted support and cooperation while he worked with them.

The former Commissioner also thanked the Governor of Enugu State, Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, for finding him worthy to server under his administration as Commissioner since 2015 .

He told the staff of the ministry and the teeming crowd who witnessed the event that he had voluntarily tendered his resignation in order to pursue his political aspiration and also to align himself to the provisions of the newly amended Electoral Act, 2022.

He stated: “Regarding the 2023 election, the justice of the matter is on our side. The voices of the majority of the people are properly aligned. Victory by God’s grace is assured”.

Responding, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Barr. (Mrs.) Chinwe Amadi, expressed profound gratitude to God for bringing Hon. Edeoga to the ministry.

She described Edeoga as “a man of peace, a loving and caring leader who understands the feelings of those under him; and who can make people around him laugh even when they are not in the best of moods”.

She stated that Hon. Edeoga “posseses uncommon leadership qualities which distinguished him from other leaders” she had worked with over time.

The Permanent Secretary assured the out-going Commissioner that they would continue to pray for him, and wishing him well in his future endeavours.

Also speaking, the Director of Administration, Mr. Mathew Abiah, described Edeoga as “a humble-servant leader, meek, mien and kind-hearted leader who believes in fair-hearing and justice”.

He asserted that Hon. Edeoga never adjudged anyone right or wrong without hearing from both sides, and

prayed to God Almighty to see him through in his aspirations.

In the same vein, Mr. Nnamdi Arum from the Department of Climate Change, eulogized the out-going Commissioner for his “uprightness, dedication to duties and knacks for excellence”, while the Director of Environmental Health, Mrs. Beatrice Asogwa, who could not hold her emotions, described Hon. Edeoga as “a father, brother, God-fearing leader and a humanitarian who carries the burdens of others”.

Mrs Asogwa emotionally stated that she had never met a leader like Hon. Edeoga and urged him to continue with his open door policy.
