A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Independent National Electoral Commission (PDP) to maintain status quo and restrain from conducting fresh congresses in its Ebonyi state chapter pending the determination of a motion on notice for interlocutory injunction before the Court.

The order was delivered today, the 6th of May, 2022, by Honourable Justice D.U. Okorowo in SUIT NO: FHC/ABJ/CS/600/2022 between NWAEKPO LIVINUS N. VS. PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY AND INDEPENDENT NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION after consideration of a motion ex-parte brought by the Claimant on the 4th of May, 2022.

In the Motion Ex-Parte, the Claimant/Applicant prayed th-e Court for:

An Interim Order restraining the 1st Defendant from conducting any other fresh congress in Ebonyi State, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction.

AN ORDER directing parties in the matter to maintain status quo ante bellum, that existed on the 29th day of April, 2022, pending the hearing and final determination of the Motion on Notice.
AND FOR SUCH FURTHER OR OTHER ORDERS as the Court may deem fit in the circumstances of the matter,

In the Court’s ruling quoted by TheNigeriaLawyer, the Court ordered:

That Prayer 2 on the Motion Paper is granted and parties are directed to maintain status quo ante bellum that existed on the 29th of April, 2022 pending the hearing of the Motion on Notice on the 13th of May, 2022.

The Court further adjourned the case to the 13th of May, 2022 for the hearing of the Motion on Notice
