Governor Emmanuel Udom

Oil rich state- Akwa Ibom is reaping the benefits of having technocrat in the person Udom Emmanuel as their Governor as they have witnessed immense transformation in all sectors.

After almost seven years in office, Mr. Udom brought his vast wealth of private sector experience to bear on the management of the resources of Akwa Ibom state. Matching words with action in line with his Five-Point Agenda, the Governor made have made the state the envy of others.

His Industrialization drive cuts across production, processing and packaging value chains which has uplifted the living condition of the residents of the state, providing employment and improving the internally generated revenue of the state.

Below are some of the industries that sprang up in the state courtesy of Udom’s administration:

In AGRICULTURE, Governor Udom has set raised the bar too and made the the state a beehive of agricultural activities through the following interventions:

1. Setting up of Technical Committee on Agricultural food Sufficiency
2.Massive cultivation of Coconut across the State
3.Massive cultivation of Cocoa in Ini, Obot Akara and Essien Udim LGAs

4. Registration of 2,318 farmer cooperatives and groups, made up of 49,318 farmers, for the Rice Anchor Borrower Scheme
5. 450 youths trained on cocoa maintenance
6. Massive Rice cultivation in Ini and IbionoIbom LGAs
7. Construction of 10No. Vegetable Green Houses
8. Cultivation of Onions at Ebighi Anwa in Okobo LGA and at the Vegetable Green House
9. Establishment of hybrid rubber nursery at Ebighi Anwa in Okobo LGA, in partnership with Rubber Research Institute of Nigeria

10. Raising of over 20,000 Oil Palm Seedlings in nurseries for farmers.

11. Massive cultivation of cassava in 15 LGAs (FADAMA)
12. Distribution of 54,538,100 kg of
13. Maize seedlings to farmers.
14. Installation of Maize Preservation/Shelling Machine at NungUdoe, Ibesikpo Asutan LGA
15. Construction of Cassava Micro-
16. Processing Mills across the State
17. Establishment of Rice processing
Mills at 4 locations in the State.
18. Training of 360 youths in Israel on
various agricultural enterprises

19. Goat Multiplication and Vaccination programme
20. School Farm Reviving Campaign across the State.
21. Distribution of farm implements and agro chemicals to schools and groups in the State.
22. Establishment of Fish Processing
Factories in Ibeno and Mbo LGAs
23. Procurement of fertiliser

HUMAN CAPACITY Development isn’t left out also as Mr. Udom has embarked on training of 3000 youths on Oil and Gas; Training and certification of over 500 young entrepreneurs in business communication and related areas, through My Entrepreneurship Goal Programme (MEGP); Training of 2050 Akwa Ibom youths in Web Development and Visual designing; Training of 200 Akwa Ibom youths in Oracle, and another 200 on Micro Works to enable them source for jobs online.

Other interventions include: Training of 2,234 basic school administrators on Covid-19 prevention protocols; Training of 850 Teachers and 150 Gead teachers (1000 teaching staff) on Jolly Phonics; Conversion of former Technical College Ikot Ada Idem to a state-of-the-art  Entrepreneurial and Skill acquisition Centre, amongst others.
