Nnamdi Kanu and lawyer, Ejiofor

The federal government has again amended its charges against Nnamdi Kanu, detained leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) for alleged treasonable felony and terrorism.

The amended six-count charge includes some lawyers of the separatist leader – Ifeanyi Ejiofor and Maxwell Opara – as accomplices.

The amendment came on a day the trial judge, Justice Binta Nyako fixed to hear the bail application of Kanu, pending the determination of the charge against him.

The federal government claims messrs Ejiofor and Opara were constantly communicating with Mr Kanu who fled his Abia residence in 2017 when soldiers raided the compound, killing dozens in the process.
