The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has entered an emergency meeting to discuss issues concerning the party, one of which is possible postponement of its convention scheduled for Saturday.

Report says the NWC meeting is currently underway in Abuja.

The meeting is said to feature certain issues surrounding the extension of the deadline for conclusion of party primaries across the country by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

“We have strong reasons to believe that the extension was announced by INEC today to allow the APC properly digest the outcome of PDP’s convention and pick its candidate accordingly,” a source told Peoples Gazette.

“We were supposed to have our convention a day apart, but this latest move could give APC a window to shift its convention by additional days just to properly strategise against whoever emerged as flag-bearer at our convention.”

The PDP and the APC had scheduled its presidential primaries for May 28-29 and May 29-30 respectively.

The APC however in a quick move few hours after the shift in the deadline postponed its presidential primary election to June 6 and 7.
