Fidelity Advert
Hon. Osita Ngwu

Contrary to earlier reports that the Senator representing Enugu West Senatorial, Ike Ekweremadu might be returning to the red chamber for the 6th time, JOURNALIST101 can report authoritatively that there’s nothing like that on play.

JOURNALIST101 reliably gathered that Osita Ngwu popularly known as RG remains the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the 2023 general elections.

The appeal Committee panel in its report sighted by our correspondent said that the senatorial zones elections were free fair and credible and in line with the laid down procedures.

“The reports from observers show that the senatorial primary elections in Enugu State were conducted well and in compliance with party rules.

“…the senatorial primary election exercise was conducted properly and in accordance with the enabling rules and regulations. There are no complaints and no petitions,” the report signed by Justice Chinwe Iyizoba and Barr. Chima Nwana, the Chairperson and Secretary of the appeal Committee respectively reads.

On where the plot to cancel Enugu West Senatorial zone election, a source at Wadata plaza told our correspondent that the plot failed as the National Working Committee, NWC of the party in their meeting on Friday decided to shelve the plan as the appeal Committee report didn’t suggest anything of such.

The source who doesn’t want to be mentioned said there was an underhand dealings with one of the aspirants who scored zero in the primary election to force himself on the party at all cost.

“Yes, there was a plot to cancel the Enugu West Senatorial zone election and that was why it was reflected in the press statement by the Publicity Secretary of the party.

“However, when the idea of cancelling Enugu West election was mentioned, the party stepped it down because there was no basis for that. I can tell you authoritatively that money exchanged hands and that was why such idea was mentioned in the first place but I can’t go beyond this because of the high profile persons involved,” the source who doesn’t want his name in print said.

Also, a petition was already written to the National Chairman of the party by all the delegates in Enugu West rejecting any plot to cancel the process that produced RG.

Journalist101 had reported that Hon. Nwgu emerged the winner of the contest with 177 votes while the closest challenger, Rt. Hon. Ogbuefi Ozomgbachi polled 53 votes.
