Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Enugu

Coalition of Civil Society Organisations have expressed confidence on the steps taken to restore order and discipline at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Enugu which has witnessed one controversy or another over the years.

The coalition in a statement signed Comr Igboke Onyebuchi, Leader Coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Enugu said they’re  “observing closely the process and steps taken in restoring sanity and due process at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Enugu (FNHE) following the recent petition made by the group.”

The petition was addressed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Minister of State for Health dated 12th May 2022 at a press briefing by Coalition of Civil Society Organisations in Enugu, who have been observing independently the activities of Monday Igwe led administration in the hospital

Igboke added that: “The efforts of the Minister is so far satisfactory and we encourage him to ensure compliance with all agreed measures already put in place by his team in bringing lasting peace and transparency in the hospital.

“However, we wish to state that despite the gallant moves by the minister to restore peace in the facility, there are efforts to frustrate these interventions and we appeal to the Honourable Minister to ensure that their directives aren’t swept under the carpet by some forces.”

Igboke added that one Dr Salawudin, the Head of Hospital Services in the ministry is compromised and called for his removal from the Investigation Panel as his relationship with one of the parties is affecting his judgement.

Igboke added that there are actions aimed at intimidating and frustrating some of the staff of the hospital that wrote the ministry by the management and called on the honourable Minister to use his good office to ensure that “the excellent works he started is seen to a fruitful completion.”
