The Senator representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial District, Obinna Joseph Ogba, has emerged the government candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ebonyi State for the 2023 election.
Declaring the result, the Chairman of the party’s electoral committee, Engr Chris Okolo, said that Ogba polled 253 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Anayo Nwonu who garnered 110 votes.
Ogba a former State Chairman of the party in the state was elected in a primary election held Sunday night in Abakaliki.
The election was sequel to the decision of the Appeal Court which settled the leadership crisis of the party in the state and the subsequent cancellation of the previous exercise which didn’t meet the requirements set by the party as it was marred by violence and Irregularities.
