Ahead of the Friday June 17 deadline given to political parties to submit the names of presidential candidates and their running mates, Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu has reportedly picked Kabir Ibrahim Masari as his Deputy.
Despite accepting Masari, an origin of Katsina State as his running mate, a source told DailyPost that consultations is still ongoing as a change is still possible.
The source disclosed that Tinubu would have picked Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima as his running-mate, but wanted the party leaders to decide.
“All northern governors want it. If Asiwaju has his way, it will be Senator Kashim. But he wants the president and governors to pick for him.”
“He does not want to be the winner takes it all. You need to respect the President. PMB did not choose a VP for himself in 2015,” the source told DailyPost.
The party’s choice of vice president is coming amidst strong opposition from most Nigerians against the issue of Muslim-Muslim ticket.
