Ahead of the 2023 general elections, a socio-political support group in Enugu; Ije Awele Movement, has taken the sensitisation for the registration and collection of Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) across the various markets in the State.

The convener of the movement, Engr Mike Ogbuekwe, who’s also a Special Adviser to Enugu State Governor on Agriculture, said the sensitization by Ije Awele is geared towards encouraging citizens’ participation in the political process.

Speaking when the team stormed Eke Agbani, and Akunwnaw markets on June 30th, 2022, the Director General of Ije Awele , Basil Ojengwa said they were at the market to communicate with the rural dwellers in the language they will understand.

Ojengwa told the traders that their PVC is a gateway to enthroning a good government and encouraged them to support the election of Peter Mbah, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Enugu State.

“We were at the markets to bring and translate in the peoples’ local languages, the good news of the prospects that a Peter Mbah’s government promises to be if elected and therefore encourage all market men and women who are yet to get their PVC to take advantage of the continuous voter registration exercise going on to obtain their permanent voter’s card in order to be part of the 2023 governorship election for the sake of electing a visionary leader; Barr Peter Mbah.

Emeka Hyginus C. Odo, Director of Media and Publicity, told JOURNALIST101 that so far, Ije Awele Movement has taken the PVC sensitization to Ogbete main market Enugu, Abakpa Nike market, Eke Agbani, Nkerefi, Awkunanw, Okpara square among others.
