The resignation of Professor Kingsley Moghalu from the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has been rejected by the South East Zone of the  party.

Moghalu had announced his resignation from the party after he lost the party’s presidential ticket to Dumebi Kachukwu. He said he won’t be joining a new party for the 2023 general election.

In a letter he addressed to the National National Chairman of ADC, Chief Okey Nwosu, Kingsley Moghalu said the conduct of the election “revealed a fundamental clash of values between me and your leadership of the party.”

But the South-East zone of the party where Moghalu hails from after their Zonal meeting held in Enugu on Saturday, appealed to the National Working Committee of their party to “reject the letter of resignation from Prof Kingsley Moghalu- one of the presidential aspirants at the Abeokuta Convention 2022 as a step towards reconciliation.”

The party also condemned the insecurity in the region which they attributed to “collapse of governance” adding that the situation has “set the region backwards in terms of investments and indices of economic growth and development.

“We therefore call on the various state governments of South East region and the Federal Government of Nigeria to immediately review the security architecture towards demilitarization of the region and increased intelligence gathering.

Speaking on the forthcoming General Elections, the ADC passed a “vote of no confidence on the Governors of the five states of the South East, and therefore call on masses to intensify the mobilization for the forthcoming ballot revolution to change the regime of this reactionary and Inept political leaderships in the South East Zone in 2023.
