Rt. Hon Ikechukwu Ezugwu, the Member Representing Udenu Constituency in Enugu State House of Assembly, has handed over the renovated and remodelled laboratory of Boys’ secondary school, Ovoko to the school.

Rt. Hon. Ezugwu who’s also the Leader of the Assembly while handing over the structures which was done through his foundation; Ikechukwu Ezugwu Foundation, to the school on Wednesday, 13th July, said he embarked on the project as a result of his love for education.

Ikechukwu Ezugwu who was a pioneer student of the school said he was touched by the state state of the laboratory when he visited and observed that the state government has done a marvellous job on some other structures in the state.

“As a pioneer student of this school, this hall is still very memorable and I can remember my time in this place.

“New Classroom blocks have sprang up in the school and only the lab is unattended to. I had to discuss with my friend Chidi Ibeakuzie of Latter-Day Saint Charities and his organisation has been very helpful in ensuring that this project sees the light of the day.

He charged the students to be committed in their studies because they’ve all it takes to succeed in their academic pursuit.

Commissioning the laboratory for use, Enugu State Commissioner for Education, Professor Uche Eze said the project is another demonstration of the fact that Rt. Hon. Ezugwu prioritises education.

Professor Eze said education remains a pivotal part of Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi administration and the lawmaker is following in the footstep of the Governor who loves education

He thanked Rt. Hon. Ikechukwu Ezugwu and Latter-Day Saint Charities for the wonderful initiative, while calling on other Old Boys of the school to follow the step of the Leader of Enugu State House of Assembly.

In his remarks, Chidi Ibeakuzie of Latter-Day Saint Charities said the Enugu Politician “has the kind heart we are looking for and that’s why we’re partnering with him.

“His love for education and humanity is second to non and we will continue to partner with him to continue affecting humanity positively.”

Mrs. Elias Evelyn Nneka, the Physics teacher of the school.
Said the project is incredible, the lab was a shadow of itself when I came here. Seeing the new state of the lab, we are motivated to teach better.
We were using the chemistry lab before now and sometimes, we borrow from other schools but all these things are in the past.

Physics is better thought in the laboratory and with this new development, we expect things to get better and the students will learn better.

To Rt. Hon. Ikechukwu Ezugwu, we say may heaven bless you, this is very thoughtful of him, remembering his alma mata.

Obetta Iheanacho, the head boy,
Of Boys secondary school, Ovoko.
On behalf of other students, we say thank you this initiative, it’s not easy for one to do this kind of project for the community.

Obetta who’s an SS2 student of the school said: “This is the first of its kind since I came to the school and our journey into the world of Science will take a new turn. The students have been having their practicals with old equipments under a dilapidated environment. We are very excited with this project.
