Over 6,000 Businesses Benefit From Enugu SME CAC Formalization Grant

The Enugu SME Centre say that over 6,000 Over businesses benefitted from its Cooperate Affairs Commission (CAC) formalization grant.

The Director General of Enugu SME Centre and the Special Adviser to Enugu State Governor on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Arinze Chilo Offiah, said the beneficiaries; 4,263 males and 2,500 females were also assisted with TIN registration and corporate account opening with Union Bank.

Mr. Chilo Offiah said the gesture is in consonant with the determination of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi led administration to assist micro, small and medium enterprises grow in the state.

He went further to state that the beneficiaries were drawn from the following sectors: Advertising/Media, Agriculture and Agriculture Value Chain, Creative Industry, Education Healthcare, Logistics Manufacturing and Trading.

Chilo Offiah thanked the Enugu State Government, the Federal Government of Nigeria, and the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) for making it possible for Ndi Enugu business owners to benefit from the scheme adding that they hope to increase the number to 10,000  by the end of December, 2022.

Some of the beneficiaries that spoke to our correspondent, expressed joy that they were selected, while thanking the Enugu SME Centre.

One of the beneficiaries said that with the Formalization with CAC, he can now approach cooperate organisation to do business with him.

“Words won’t be enough for me to express how I feel about this certificate and corporate account. I have been denied several jobs because of this but the Centre made it easy for us without any cost,” the beneficiary who gave his name as Ejike said.

“When I was asked to apply for the Formalization process, I thought it was one of these government things that never ends well. I decided to give it a try since it was free and I couldn’t believe I now have an account with the bank and a business name registered with the commission.

“I thank the Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and the Director General of the Enugu SME Centre, Arinze Chilo Offiah for this grant,” concluded.
