PUNY Interacts With Arewa Community In Enugu

Progressive United Nigerian Youths (PUNY) on Sunday, held a familiarisation and interactive session with Arewa community in Enugu state.

The interactive session is part of PUNY’s idea of interfacing with the youths of Nigeria from all ethnic nationalities to help foster peace and security in the country.

During the visit, the women and youths from  Arewa community pointed out some of the challenges their members face in the state.

Some of these challenges include discrimination by House owners that who show restrains in renting their properties to them. The Keke NAPEP riders among them also accused the local government officials of making life difficult for them through multiple taxation.

Responding to the issues raised, Egbo Chinagorom Franklin, the National Chairman of PUNY said the aim of the association is to unite Nigeria youths, make and create an avenue where the dream of an average youth is realized without any discrimination because of tribe nor religion.

“PUNY wants all of us to see ourselves as one true Nigerian youth united by a common goal of making the youth voice stronger more useful through synergy with every Nigerian youth to enable us take what rightfully belong to us.”

Comr. Egbo noted all their challenges and further empathised with them and urge them to be law abiding citizens and assured them he will ensure some of their challenges are resolved.

The National Chairman also promised that he will take up the issue of Keke riders to the relevant stakeholders in a bid to seek a way out of the situation. On the accomodations issue, he promised to seek the services of a legal practitioner that will assist them, adding that the behaviour of the landlords is a general issue.

Egbo also thanks the Executive Governor Of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, for his experience and excellent leadership to the good people of Enugu state. He went further to express gratitude to him for the peace in Enugu state and youth inclusion in governance and urged them to continue praying for the governor as well as give him maximum support.

The Arewa youths urged PUNY leadership to continue with the good work and not hesitate to carry everybody along and thanked the organisation for giving them room to air their views and appreciated them for showing interest in their plight.
