Presidential Council: Atiku Replies Wike's Camp

The governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike has revealed why the Peoples Democratic Party embattled National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu has refused to honour his promise and step down.

Wike and other leaders of the party insisted that Ayu must resign following the emergence of Atiku Abubakar, another Northerner as the presidential candidate of the PDP.

In his response, Ayu said he can only resign when Atiku emerges the president in the 2023 poll.

But addressing the media today in Port Harcourt, Wike said Ayu’s insistence on remaining in office is as a result of his personal ambition.

“Ayu wants to be in power and office so that if we win, he wants to be Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF).

“These positions have been shared and they’re talking to young, small boys like us as though we don’t know what’s going on. I can tell you that because some of you don’t know what’s going on.

“Someone has been promised Senate President. If Nigerians here a lot of things gong on now in the party that wants to takeover the reigns of power, they will shed tears.

“Simple thing, make sacrifice, my brother my sister, I want to do this, you’re resigning because we have problem and you’re the one that can bring us out of the problem. Resignation isn’t removal,” Wike said.
