BREAKING: Ibrahim Gusau Emerges NFF President In A Controversial Congress

Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau has been elected as the new president of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF.

Alhaji Gusau who was the former Chairman of Chairmen of the NFF emerged in the ongoing Annual General Assembly/Election of the Federation holding in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

Gusau polled 21 votes to beat his closet challenger former Ist Vice President Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi who got 12 votes while the erstwhile League Management Committee (LMC) Chairman Shehu Dikko got just six votes.

Though, Gusau did not poll the needed 22 votes to automatically win in the first ballot, other contenders opted out of possible rerun.

However, one of the contestants Peterside Idah participated in the second ballot and was defeated by Gusau with 39 votes to 1 from 41 votes casted.

One vote was voided.

The former Chairman of Chairmen in the last board led by Amaju Melvin Pinnick becomes the 40th man to lead Nigerian football.

Before the commencement of the voting, the  immediate past General Secretary of NFF, Barr. Musa Ahmadu who’s also from the North withdrew from the race, making Gusau the only candidate from Northern part of the country.
