
The Nigerian Army have completed the training of their clerical staff on Office Management and Document Security.
The 4-day training held in Enugu, had in attendance 150 Clerks of the Nigerian Army drawn from Divisions 6 & 82 and other sister security agencies such as the Nigeria Police, NSCDC, FRSC, NDLEA, DSS, Federal Fire Service, Customs, Immigration and Nigerian Correctional Service among others.
At the closing ceremony which took place at the auditorium of 82 Division, Enugu on Thursday, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, charged the Clerks to deploy all they have learnt during the 4 days training and be more efficient in the discharge of their duties and also pass the knowledge to their colleagues when they get to their various offices.
“You have been reminded and exposed to the various dimensions of threats to documents security as well as the need to ensure our offices are properly managed.
“I will like you to relay what you have learnt to your colleagues in various offices and waste no time in emplacing changes where necessary. This will make documents security more efficient.”
The army Chief who was represented by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division, Maj. Gen. Umar Musa, reminded the participants “to be mindful of the peculiar challenges that are inherent in social media, so that the document protection measures are both realistic and up to date.”
He also said the training “was intentionally conceived for NA Clerks because of the important roles, clerks play in document security,” adding that “Clerks present at the workshop are now better empowered to discharge their duties more efficiently.”
The COAS appreciated the facilitators of the training; ‘A Team of Unique Professionals’ for improving their knowledge on important area of office management and document security, while hoping that the partnership continues.
Yahaya also thanked the Local Organising Committee, led by the Chief of Staff of 82 Division, Brig.-Gen. Anthony Okpudo, for working assiduously to ensure that the workshop was properly organised.
Speaking to newsmen on the sideline, one of the participants, Miss Francisca Odo from the Federal Fire Service, said that the workshop has given her more insight on what documentation and office management is all about.
Odo, who is an Assistant Superintendent of Fire (ASF -1), said that the training has increased her cyber security awareness and the need to always change her passwords after using an unsafe/public cyber café or computer system.
Another participant, Mr Alex Okeagu, a Marshal Inspector-II with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said he will make a lot of changes in the way they do their work and also advise his colleagues on the need to use strong passwords.

The course training, which is Third Quarter Year 2022 Office Management and Security Workshop for Nigerian Army Clerks, was themed: “Enhancing the Capability of Nigerian Army Clerks for Effective Performance”.
During the workshop which started on November 6th, 2022, the participants where exposed to courses on cyber writing, information and security; minutes writing; right conditions for office file/document management; and protecting office documents/files against pilfering/leakages.
Highpoints of the event was the presentation of Certificates to the participants, as well as souvenirs to the Chief guest of honour, the team from ‘A Team of Unique Professionals’ among other top invited guests.
