Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has vowed to bring to the assailant of the Director General of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rt. Hon. Chinedum Elechi to face the full wrath of the law.

The Governor made the vow on Thursday, when he visited Rt. Hon. Elechi at the Federal Medical Center, Umuahia where he is receiving treatment over matchet cuts from an alleged Department of State Service Officer over minor issues.

The Governor who was visibly touched by the level of harm meted on the party’s campaign DG and the degree of cuts sustained by the attack  thanked God for sparing the live of the campaign DG.

Recall that the Director General of the Abia State PDP Campaign Council, Rt. Hon Chinedum Elechi was over the weekend attacked by a man identified as an officer of the Department of State Service attached to Ebonyi state command.

Addressing newsmen after the visit Governor Ikpeazu described the incident as unfortunate noting that a man who could mete out such degree of harm on a fellow human over a little provocation is not worthy to live among humans.

He commended the management and staff of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia, for swift actions taken to forestall further pains on the DG and was full of thanksgiving to God that the victim is stable and prayed God for quick recovery.

Earlier, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Elechi while narrating his ordeal thanked God for sending men his way who delivered him from the hands of the assailant, adding that he would have been a dead man. He appreciated Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for coming to identify with him and other friends, colleagues and well-wishers and particularly, the management of FMC for all their assistance in saving his life .

The member representing Ukwa West State Constituency, Hon. Godwin Adiele, Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem, Chief of staff to the Governor, Chief Okey Ahaiwe, Dr. Cosmas Ndukwe, were part of those who accompanied the Governor on the visit.
