The Enugu State chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo youth wing, has dismissed the reports in some sections of the media that the body called on the Inspector-General of Police to remove the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Ammani.

In a rejoinder issued by Mazi Nnamdi Odo, leader, Ohaneze Ndigbo Youths Enugu State, the apex Igbo Youths organisation said the call was made by a masked group operating in the name of “Ohaneze Youth Council”.

Mazi Odoh said there’s “no group like Ohaneze Youth Council in Enugu state and there is no way a beer parlour discussion will translate to a collective statement or decision by Enugu state Igbo Youths.”

While acknowledging the security challenges facing the country including Enugu State, Mazi Odoh expressed confidence in the security agency to handle the situation and urged Ndi Enugu to disregard any statement against the commissioner of police who’s doing his best to bring the situation under control.

The statement reads:

“The attention of Ohaneze Ndigbo Youths Enugu State has been drawn to the purported and unscrupulous press release by the masked group in the name of Ohaneze Youth Council.

“lt is very important to set the record straight. There is no group like Ohaneze Youth Council in Enugu state and there is no way a beer parlour discussion will translate to a collective statement or decision by Enugu state Igbo Youths.

“We know that there is Security challenges in the country presently and Enugu state is not an exception. In as much as we condemn the security challenges in the entire country, we also trust the intelligent operation of our commissioner of police as he has been heel bent in combating the hoodlums maiming the Enugu citizens.

“However, we the Known and constituted Enugu state Ohaneze Ndigbo Youths ably lead Mazi Nnamdi Odo disassociate our selves from the baseless claim by the self acclaimed youth of Enugu state.

“We want to state categorically that there is no such order by the commissioner of police Ahmad Ammani and any call by the scrupulous leader of the unidentifiable group lead Mazi Okwu Nnabuike for the CP’s resignation should be disregarded.

“Finally, we enjoin the people of Enugu state to remain calm and law abiding, as the security agencies are presently on top of the security situation of the State.”
