The studio of one of the popular radio stations in Enugu State; Solid FM has been completely razed by fire.

JOURNALIST101 gathered that the fire incident which started by 9am on Saturday was as a result fire from the neighbouring compound which spread to the roof of the studio and burnt the station down completely.

JOURNALIST101 learnt that properties and transmitting equipments worth millions of naira were destroyed by the inferno.

Reacting, the Enugu State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council, Commiserate commiserated with the station over the fire incident.

The Campaign Council’s sympathies were conveyed in a statement by its Director of Communications and Spokesperson, Nana Ogbodo, after an assessment tour of the radio station on Saturday.

The PDP Campaign Council said: “We received with a rude shock and highest sense of empathy the news of the fire incident that gutted one of the studios in the Solid 100.9 FM Enugu premises. This is no doubt a significant loss to the station. We are however delighted that the setback has not interrupted transmission by the station as it continues to render priceless services to the people of Enugu and Nigeria as a whole”.

“On behalf of our governorship candidate, Dr. Peter Mbah, who is not in town at the moment, and our Campaign DG, Chief Ikeje Asogwa, I send our sympathies to the Board, Management, Staff, fans of the Solid 100.9 FM.”

The PDP Campaign Council enjoined the people of Enugu State and lovers of democracy to also pray and support the media outfit in these trying times.

Similarly, Frank Nweke Jr, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, governorship candidate in Enugu state, while commiserating with the management and staff of SolidFM, expressed relief that no life was lost, adding that the incident happened during the harmattan and in the midst of unfavourable economic conditions.

“SolidFM is a very important voice for our people, for commerce, democracy, human rights and the projection of everything Enugu stands for. This studio is one of the best in the State. It is my prayer that you are able to bounce back quickly and you can be assured of our support in any way that we can help. We need your voice.” Nweke stated.

Solid FM, located at 10B Savage Crescent GRA, Enugu, began transmission in 2012 and runs under the frequency modulated band, 100.9
