Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has alleged that the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele has a hidden agenda with his recent policies.
Fani-Kayode who’s the Director, Public Engagements of the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council questioned the timing of these policies- Cashless policy and redesigning of naira notes.
Appearing on Channels Television Politics Today programme, the APC chieftain said this is an orchestrated plot, adding that he has never seen a CBN Governor this powerful.
“I find questionable, the policy of the Central Bank, I don’t question the policy. Yes, we need a cashless policy but why is it being introduced now?
“I’m sitting in your programme today, pointing accusing fingers on the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria of having a hidden agenda.
“I’ve never seen a CBN Governor, that will be outside the country, challenge the security agencies, come back, ready to be arrested, he’s been guided by soldiers, who posted the soldiers, and how come he has that kind of power?” he asked.
“I’ve never seen a central bank Governor who was summoned to the House of Representatives several times, he refused to go until a time they threatened him with arrest and he quickly went there and made a few concession….”
Continuing, he said, “Mark my words, it will be very difficult for people to get new notes until after the election because there’s a hidden agenda as far as I’m concerned.
He further alleged that the cashless policy is orchestrated to favour the PDP that have designed an application with which to send monies to people when they can no longer access cash.
He also said that the claim by El-Rufai is true and with time, the persons working against their Presidential Candidate will be made known.
