The Nigerian Police force have taken their campaign against cultism to North Western state of Zamfara.

On the 2nd of February, the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) with the aim of achieving a functional Community in Zamfara State for a safe, peaceful and secured Communities and through the implementation of the Community policing Framework of the Nigeria police Force, inaugurated the POCACOV Stakeholders and Committee Members.

The inauguration took place at the Conference Room of Jaiz Hotel in Gusau, Zamfara State.

In her Speech during the Inauguration, ACP Grace Longe Of the National Institute Of Policing Studies (NIPS) Abuja reminded the  committee members of the great task ahead in the realization of community policing framework aimed at ensuring a peaceful and secured communities.

She further charged them to pay attention on the POCACOV Activity captioned ‘Our children Must Thrive’ and work towards ensuring that awareness and advocacy are made towards ensuring that there is parental Support and Adult guidance for our children not to be vulnerable to be recruited into membership of unlawful societies and organized criminal groups.

She informed them that the Nigeria police force brought the POCACOV initiative as a community policing initiative and public Relations Tool to work with different stakeholders and multi Agencies and to enhance their participation towards problem solving and urged them not to relent in this onerous task of working to change mindsets, thinking and action of young minds for a greater society.

In his Remark, the National Coordinator of POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu thanked the inaugurated Members for identifying with the Nigeria Police Force and making themselves available for the volunteer service which is part of community policing framework calling for sharing of responsibility of preventing crime as volunteer members of the force.

He informed them that POCACOV as an NPF Community Policing Initiative and Public Relations Tool Working With Different Stakeholders and Multi Agencies, carry out their responsibilities through advocacy, awareness creation, sensitization, mentoring and reorientation, anchored on mobilization partnership, participation and problem solving.

“We Must be deliberate in our engagement to ensure these young minds are not recruited into Membership of unlawful societies and organized criminal groups (OCGs), and it is about changing of mindsets, thinking and to help create meaningful alternative pathways for them to thrive. Values, standard and discipline must be propagated for functional Community and this has to be through A whole of society approach.”

In his response, Ebere Mbaegbu of the Cleen Foundations, lauded Nigeria police force on the Initiative which has been planted in Zamfara.

He applauded the spirit of volunteerism amongst the stakeholders and charged them not to relent and assured them on behalf of the Executive Director Cleen Foundations, of their continued support in the areas of Strengthening of capacity for optimum performance.

Speaking on behalf of the newly inaugurated Members, Abdul-Razak Bello Kaura appreciated the Nigeria police Force on their efforts towards ensuring a safe, peaceful and secured communities and expressed happiness with the inauguration of POCACOV stakeholders executives, which has signalled the birth of the program in Zamfara State and assured of their continued support and dedication in the realization of POCACOV Aims and Objectives in Zamfara State.
