The Labour Party has won Oji River local government area with a very slight margin in the ongoing governorship election Enugu State.
The local government collation officer for the governorship election in the local government, Dr. Osita Ossai, announced that the Labour Party garnered 7747 votes to win the council area, which is where the Labour Party deputy governorship candidate comes from.

The Peoples Democratic Party came a very close second with 7365 votes.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, came a distant 3rd with 1060 votes while the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, came a very distant 4th with 246 votes.

The battle for the soul of Oji-River LGA was intense. A PDP stalwart who craved anonymity described it as “very tough. Imagine pushing back against a Peter Obi ascendancy which had just two weeks ago toppled us throughout Igboland on February 25th. Parts of Inyi and Ugwuoba still brought it in for PDP with stakeholders including Harrimax and KGB Oguakwa winning their respective Wards for example. It was a mixed grill sort of bittersweet outing in which, for instance, Civil Service Commissioner Joy Odike & Nike Lake’s Ugochi Madueke both lost their polling booths to Labour Party amongst others. The avalanche of OBIdient votes in the predominantly Achi belt, though stemmed somewhat by the yeo man’s job achieved by stalwarts like Manfred, Quashi & Amaka Anajemba, swept incumbent ENHA Member Jeff Mbah out of office and tipped the scale in favour of their son Dr. John Nwokeabia (De Man Don Come) who is Deputy on Labour Party’s Governorship ticket ”, he concluded.

With the results announced so far, the PDP has won in Uzo-Uwani and Ezeagu while the Labour Party has recorded victory in Igboeze North and Oji-River.
