The Lagos State Government on Saturday said it has not abolished the existence of Eze Ndigbo titles in the state, describing the reports doing the rounds as “April Fool.”
The rebuttal is in response to a viral social media reports earlier in the day that the administration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu has abolished Eze Ndigbo titles in Lagos.
The report isn’t unconnected to the arrest of Fredrick Nwajagu, the Eze Ndigbo, Ajao Estate of the state, following a video of him saying that they might be forced to invite members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to protect their shops in Lagos markets which has been subject to arson in the last few weeks.
Nwajagu is presently in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Reacting to the purported abolishment of all Eze Ndigbo titles in Lagos, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, debunked it.
“It seems like April fool. Let’s ignore now,” Vanguard quotes Omotosho as saying.
