Scores of protesters suspected to be supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP trooped to the Bayelsa office of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Yenagoa, demanding the cancellation of results in Nembe Bassambiri as well as that from Ologbobiri and Ologboboro communities in Southern Ijaw local government area.

They marched from the Peace Park through the major roads and converged around the INEC office.

The head of Voter Education and Publicity for Bayelsa state INEC office, Wilfred Ifogah, who addressed the protesters, said the electoral body will look into the complaint.

Collation of results is still ongoing as at the time of filing this report, with a few local governments so far announced as of Sunday morning.

JORNALIST101 had reported that officials of INEC have been held hostage in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The commission announced this on Sunday, calling on security agencies to facilitate their release.

“Unfolding Situation in Brass Local Government Area. The Commission is closely watching the situation in Brass LGA of Bayelsa State where our officials are held hostage.”

“This is detrimental to credible elections. We call on the security agencies to immediately facilitate their release.”
