The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of New Haven Police, SP (Barr) Chijoke Ogbodo on Monday, gifted food items and cash to wives of slain officers of the Division.

Journalist101 recalls that on September 8th, 2022 three policemen were brutally murdered by heavily armed gunmen around 9:20pm at the popular block busstop, Chime Avenue, New Haven, Enugu North Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday.

The victims were; Inspectors Tony Mpiawu ‘m’ Joseph Idoko ‘m’ and Onyema lgwe ‘m’

The new Divisional Officer who assumed office recently said he was touched by the plight of the relatives of the late officers when he saw a bus packed in the station and when he asked why it’s still there, was told it belongs to one of the slain officers.

SP Ogbodo said the gesture is to aid the family which he knows might be going through difficult time as a result of the loss of the breadwinners and also boost the moral of the men serving under him.

Anthony Mpianwi’s wife who spoke on behalf of others, said they were shocked that almost 2 years after tye Division still remembers them and prayed to God to bless the DPO for his kind gesture.

“On behalf of others I say thank you. Words cannot express the joy you brought to our homes especially mine, the happiness on the faces of the fatherless.

You shall not die young, your children will not experience this neither will your wife be in our condition. God of the widows will fight your fight and bring victory unto you.”

 

Some of the food items given to the widows include; Rice, Yam, Garri, groundnut oil, etc.
