The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Orogun Delta State, Dr. Duke Okoro on Wednesday, 13th March, 2024, received the Alumni of Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun, FUPRE alumni Association, Worldwide and the Nigerian Environmental Society Delta State Chapter.

The visit was a harmonious demonstration of camaraderie and shared commitment to environmental stewardship for cooperation and discussion with the goal of promoting academic partnerships and sustainable development.

The National President of the FUPRE Alumni was represented by the Secretary General Alfred Ajokporise, and Dr.Victor Sunji (JP), Chairman of the Nigerian Environmental Society Delta State Chapter, while the visiting delegation was greeted with open arms by the Rector and the Registrar, Mrs Christine Aluyi and other management staff.

The rendezvous served as a platform for robust discussions and exchange of ideas on pressing environmental issues and opportunities for synergistic collaboration between the institutions.

Representatives from the FUPRE Alumni Association disclosed that the appointment of Dr.Duke Okoro as pioneer Rector of FEPO is not only well deserved but it is a square peg in a square hole which they believe and are confident that he( Dr.Duke Okoro) will deliver on the Polytechnics mandate.

They emphasized the Rector’s excellent track record and Goodwill as many can testify of his support and contributions towards academic excellence.

In a similar vein, participants in the Nigerian Environmental Society exchanged knowledge and best practices regarding environmental activism and conservation, highlighting the vital role that academic institutions play in promoting change and increasing public awareness of environmental issues.

They congratulated Dr.Duke Okoro and Federal Polytechnic Orogun on its dedication to sustainability and said they were prepared to assist the school in its objectives by working together and launching capacity-building programs.

In response, Dr. Duke Okoro extended his heartfelt appreciation to the visiting delegation for their proactive engagement and dedication to environmental preservation.

He reaffirmed the polytechnic’s commitment to promoting environmental consciousness and leveraging partnerships for the benefit of society. Dr. Okoro emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation in addressing contemporary environmental challenges and lauded the collective efforts of the FUPRE Alumni Association and the Nigerian Environmental Society in driving positive change.

The courtesy visit concluded on a high note, with both parties exchanging tokens of appreciation and expressing optimism for future collaborations.
