Fidelity Advert
I’m not desperate to be president — Peter Obi

The 2023 Presidential candidate, Peter Obi has responded to the video circulating on the internet after the Ramadan fasting.

In the video currently circulating on social media, former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi could be seen granting a brief interview with Arise journalists after visiting a Mosque in Lagos to break fast with Muslim faithfuls. During the interview, he answered several questions about his recent tour in different Mosques and Muslim communities across the nation.

One of the questions asked by the journalists was about speculations going around that there’s a political motivation behind his visit to various Mosques.

Reacting to the question, Obi said;

“There’s no election, I didn’t come in the time of election. I would have come for when there was election, but I came when there’s no election because I believe in this. Like I said before, it’s not about election, election doesn’t make bread cheaper.”

Speaking further, he said;

“My message remains the same because if we are productive people won’t be suffering, I’m not desperate to become the president of Nigeria, I’m desperate to see Nigeria work. I’m desperate to see a society where a child of nobody can be great and become somebody.”

Obi also emphasized that his current visit across different Muslim communities is to help unite the people and ask for more prayers for the nation’s welfare.

“This is the time when we have to go round asking people to pray for our country in this difficult times. I used the opportunity from my visits to experience real time what people are going through and what is happening. I’m asking for more and more prayers because the country requires prayers.

“The Ramadan fasting coincides with the Christian fasting, these things show love and unity. I’m going to make people understand that there’s nothing different in all of us, we are the same. Like I’ve always said, no religion buys bread cheaper, none buys fuel cheaper. If there’s a problem, it’s a problem for everybody,” he stated.
