Gunmen have kidnapped an unspecified number of students along the East-West road in Ughelli, Delta State. The driver of the vehicle managed to escape unharmed.
According to Edafe Bright, spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, the victims were likely students returning from school in Calabar, Cross River State, when they were abducted from the minibus they were travelling in on Friday night.
Bright stated that no ransom has been demanded yet, and the police have launched a search operation for the abductors and their victims.
The Command is aware of this unfortunate incident, and we are taking all necessary measures to ensure their safe rescue,” Bright tweeted.
This abduction follows another incident where students from the University of Calabar (UNICAL) were kidnapped in Cross River. The three students abducted from UNICAL are Ojang Precious Ebejin, a 200-level student of Medicine and Surgery; Ugwu Chukwuemeka, a 300-level student of Genetics and Biotechnology; and Damilola Dickson, a final year student of the same department.
