Anambra Police Command

The Anambra Police command has denied knowledge of the report of kidnap of an Archbishop, his family members and 3 pastors in the state as being reported in some section of the media.

The report said that the Archbishop whose name was given as Uka Uka Osim of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, his wife, Anne Osim and son, Roland Uka Osim, were kidnapped alongside three other clergymen of Brotherhood of the Cross identified as Azuka Ochu, Moses Okafor and Anderson Akwazie as they were travelling to Awka, capital of Anambra State, on evangelical duties.

But Ikenga Tochukwu, the spokesperson of Anambra State Police Command said that “from inquiries made on the above news from our respective Area Commands, Police Divisional Headquarters, and otherwise, there is no such record of any incident as mentioned in the state.”

Ikenga, a Superintendent of Police, added that “the Command has been relatively calm as Police and other security agencies are strategically positioned in many areas of the state, while some operatives are on crime prevention patrol aimed to address any untoward situations.

“Given the above, the Command calls on members of the public to assist us with information regarding the above-mentioned incident if such happened, this will enable us to embark on the investigation, please,” the statement which was released on Saturday, 4th May, 2024 reads.
