The immediate past speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
The move comes few hours after the former Abia Governor’s son announced his resignation from the party.
The ex-speaker had announced his resignation via a letter addressed to the Chairman of PDP in his urban I ward on Monday, saying the move had become very necessary.
“This is to formally notify you of my resignation from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with effect from today.
“Kindly note that this decision is taken after extensive consultations.
“I thank the Party for giving me the platform which culminated in my being elected as Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly.
“Accept my warmest regards,” he said.
In a follow-up Former to his resignation, the younger Orji has defected to the APC.
The Ex Lawmaker received his membership card and broom- symbol of the APC from the State Chairman of the Party Dr Kingsley Ononogbu.
