The police in Enugu State have arrested some members of the Enugu Chapter of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), over alleged stealing of the property of the organization in the coal city.

The arrested suspects, included Rev. Mrs. Yvonne Jedidiah Emejulu, Nonye Enemuo and Osita Obi, while other culprits are reportedly at large.

Their arrest followed a petition to the State Commissioner of Police, by the Incorporated Trustees of the NAPPS, requesting for the prosecution of the accused persons for the act they committed at the Enugu State Secretariat Office of the Association located at No. 1Á Chime Avenue, New Haven, Enugu.

According to the petition dated Thursday April 4, 2024, a copy of which was obtained by newsmen, Emejulu, who is the proprietor of Biliano International Schools, Enugu and some other members of the organization had, invaded and vandalized the state office of the association.

The petition, signed by Dr. Sai’d Mijinyawa and Prince Sakiru Adesina Raji, Chairman and Secretary respectively of NAPPS BOT, also accused the suspects of fraudulently opening an account in the corporate name of the association in a commercial bank, impersonating the office of the State Chairman and bragging and boasting about what they had done.

The petition said: “The Board Of Trustees by the position of the law are the defenders of the association’s properties, both movable and immovable, and in the exercise of our duties, we considered it lawful to petition against the culprits to the police for necessary prosecutions in accordance with the laws of the federation.

“We have also informed the Enugu State Government through the Ministry of Education, Enugu State, the position of things in NAPPS Enugu State Chapter through our letter dated 14th March, 2024 to the Honorable Commissioner for Education, Enugu State, see attached a copy of the letter.

“The list of the stolen movable properties shall be determined and identified at the course of investigation, attached is a video of the proof of their actions”.

The petition lamented that the suspects had gone about bragging and boasting about what they have done, adding that they were also going about obtaining by false pretense through a position they impersonate as well.

“They’re obtaining by false pretense through an account that they fraudulently opened with the corporate name of the association without the consent of the Board Of Trustees. Upon discovering that, we wrote the bank, we urge you Sir, to use your good office to investigate how they were ablé to fraudulently open the account without the consent of the incorporated trustees of the Association.

The BOT members also urged the CP to use his good office to ensure that the suspects face the law because, according to the petition, their actions were against the association and humanity.
