The Nigeria Premier Football League ((NPFL) has sanctioned Enyimba and Rangers International for breaching its framework and rules in their Matchday 35 encounter.

According to BSNSports, the League governing body awarded three points and three goals to Rangers International and fined Enyimba FC the sum of Ten million naira (#10m) for breaching the frameworks.

The Oriental derby, matchday 35 encounter between both teams at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium on Sunday was abandoned following the controversial penalty awarded to the home team, Rangers International in the dying minutes.

Meanwhile, the hosts, Rangers International will pay a fine of N5m for various offences, including non provision of adequate security, encroachment on to the pitch by fans and other unauthorized persons as well as sales of tickets to spectators more than the stadium capacity leading to encroachment of the pitch.

Below is a breakdown of the fine imposed on Rangers:

– 2 Million for over ticketing
– 1 Million for failing to provide adequate security
– 1 Million for failing to implement crowd control measures
– 1 million for allowing unauthorized bodies to assess restricted areas
– Order to implement more crowd control mechanism in subsequent games.

Below is the NPFL Sanctions on Enyimba:

1.  A fine of One Million Naira only (N1,000,000) for failing to ensure the proper
conduct of your team.

2.  A fine of Five Million Naira only (N5,000,000) for disrupting a live broadcast.

3.  A fine of One Million Naira only (N1,000,000) for throwing of objects unto the
field of play.

4. A fine of One Million Naira only (N1,000,000) for encroachment unto the field of play

5. An order forfeiting 3 points and 3 goals in favour of your opponent refusing to allow the penalty awarded in favour of your opponents to be taken, thereby disrupting the match and bringing the game to disrepute.

6.  A  fine of Two Million Naira only (N2,000,000) for causing the disruption and discontinuation of the match.

7. An order for Enyimba to identify and produce for further investigation and appropriate sanctions, other players and officials complicit in the disruptive conducts (particularly against the match officials) that led to a discontinuation of the game, in addition to the following identified  players; Eze Ekwutoziam (Jersey No.6), Chibuike Nwaiwu (Jersey No.27), and Akanni Elijah (Jersey No.10).

Both clubs have 48 hours to appeal the decision.

With this, Rangers International remain on top of the league table with 64 points from 35 matches while Enyimba FC and Remo Stars are in second and third positions with 59 points each
