Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan expressed his deep sorrow at the passing of Hajiya Dada Yar’Adua, declaring it a profound personal loss, adding that; “This woman technically made me who I am.”

Jonathan shared these sentiments during a condolence visit to the Yar’Adua family in Katsina on Saturday. “It truly touches my heart,” he continued. “Her son brought me into politics as his running mate, and without her, my name would remain unknown to you. She was like a mother to me, and losing her is akin to losing my own mother.”

The former president revealed that he had been traveling to Kigali, Rwanda, when the news of her death reached him on his layover in Addis Ababa. Upon returning to Nigeria on Friday, he felt compelled to pay his respects in Katsina.

“This is a very sad moment for all of us,” he reflected. “Upon hearing the heartbreaking news, I immediately knew I had to be here.

“On behalf of myself, my team, my community, and my state, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Yar’Adua family and the people of Katsina State.

“She was a mother to all of us. Though she has left this world, Allah has blessed her with a long life, a testament to her goodness. She was a remarkable woman who raised children who have made significant contributions to the development of our great nation,” he added.
