The recent initiative by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to execute additional projects in Arochukwu, Isuikwuato, and Bende LGAs of Abia-North has brought renewed optimism to the constituents of Aro Town, Idima Abam, Obayi Ovim, and Igbere. Their communities are benefiting from the construction of new school and road infrastructures.

Mobilized from the 2024 appropriated development funds, contractors have actively commenced construction work in earnest at various sites.

During the flag-off ceremony for the Idima Abam road construction on Sunday, enthusiastic residents of Arochukwu expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the former Governor of Abia.

In Aro Town, work on the Amanagwu road is also progressing rapidly, with graders actively engaged in earthworks under contractor supervision and the assistance of local laborers.

A youth leader highlighted the difficulties faced by the residents of Idima, noting that the poor condition of the road has discouraged commercial drivers from entering the community, forcing residents to walk long distances.

He expressed, “Now that Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has come to our aid, we are truly happy.”

“He has held a title in our community since 1997, making Idima his home. He continues to deliver the dividends of democracy; may God continue to uplift him.”

In education, Idima Community School Abam is undergoing renovation thanks to the addition of a new three-classroom block, supplementing a previously rebuilt structure funded by the senator.

As workers diligently carried out their tasks, Head Teacher Elder Okonkwo Ukoha described the former state of the building as deteriorating and unsuitable for learning.

He expressed his relief that renovations are underway, stating that the new improvements would transform the school’s environment. He also noted the value of the previous structure constructed by the senator, which is currently in use.

The Headteacher thanked Kalu, saying, “We are grateful to him for starting the reconstruction of this school because the building was in disrepair.”

“He has already built one structure for us and now he is providing us with another. The staff, students, and community are filled with gratitude and joy.”

In Isuikwuato Local Government, residents gathered to witness the flag-off event for the construction of Obichie Road in Obayi Ovim.

In Bende Local Government, excitement filled the air as construction commenced on the long-awaited Igbere Road, which will connect the Umuokpo, Amankalu Alayi, and Okafia communities.

Prominent youth leader Ebony Inyama conveyed the community’s appreciation, stating, “The community is thrilled and wishes our Senator well in his future endeavors. They have pledged their unwavering support and votes for him come 2027 as a way to repay his kindness.”

On his official social media accounts, Kalu elaborated on the significance of these developments, stating that the new infrastructure will greatly enhance connectivity for the people of the Abia North Senatorial District.

“These projects represent a significant milestone in our commitment to improve infrastructure and connectivity in Abia North,” Kalu noted.

“Let’s keep hope alive and anticipate the positive impact of these developments,” he added.

Kalu reaffirmed his dedication to delivering further infrastructure improvements to enhance the lives of his constituents.
