The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam, has accused some members of the Nibo community of withholding crucial information that could assist in the investigation of a recent attack that claimed the lives of 12 individuals.

During a visit to the community on Monday to assess the situation firsthand, the Commissioner expressed frustration over the swift burial of the victims by their relatives, which he believes has impeded the investigation and the identification of those responsible for the violent act.

In a statement, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that the police will intensify efforts to uncover the identities of the killers.

“The Anambra State Police command is committed to the ongoing investigation and to apprehending those behind the cult-related killings in Nibo,” he stated. “We condemn the actions of some relatives of the deceased who have buried evidence, suppressed information, and hindered our investigation.”

The PPRO emphasized that during the Commissioner’s visit with police operatives to the crime scene, the Commissioner reaffirmed the command’s determination to leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of the assailants.
