Atsi, the younger sister of Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, has died from gunshot wounds inflicted during a police accidental discharge.

Although Atsi’s death has not been officially announced, Daily Trust has learned that she passed away in an undisclosed hospital in Abuja, where she had been receiving treatment following the incident.

On December 5, gunmen on motorcycles, believed to be kidnappers, attacked the convoy of the governor’s mother along the Wukari-Kente road in the Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State. It was reported that a police escort in the convoy fired at the assailants as they attempted to block the vehicle carrying Jummai Kefas, the governor’s mother. Tragically, the stray bullet struck Atsi, 44, who was seated next to her mother.

Atsi was initially rushed to the Teaching Hospital in Wukari before being flown to Abuja for further care.

A source close to the Taraba State Government has confirmed Atsi’s death to Daily Trust, stating, “Please don’t quote me because it has not yet been made public.”
