President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s final State of the Nation address in Parliament on Friday was abruptly interrupted when his aide-de-camp (ADC) collapsed.
In a viral video shared by Ghana Web, Colonel Isaac Amponsah fell to the floor midway through the President’s address. Prior to his collapse, he appeared visibly uncomfortable but was unable to prevent himself from collapsing.
The incident briefly halted the President’s speech, but he resumed after a few minutes once the ADC had been carried to a corner of the auditorium for medical attention.
The aide-de-camp to the Vice President, a police officer, quickly stepped in to stand behind the President in Amponsah’s place.
At the time of reporting, the cause of Amponsah’s collapse had yet to be determined.
