Senator John Azuta-Mbata has emerged the new President-General of the Igbo Apex Socio-Cultural Organisation, Ohaneze
Ndigbo worldwide.
Mbata, a former Senator representing Rivers East at the National Assembly, was elected at the Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly meeting held at the old government lodge Enugu, the Enugu State capital on Friday.
He will suceed Nze Ozichukwu Fidelis Chukwu who was appointed to complete the tenure to succeed the late Chief Emmanuel lwuanyanwu.
Senatorial Azuta-Mbata who hails from Obio Akpo local government area of Rivers State was elected by consensus in the election which was witnessed by the Governors of Enugu, Imo and Anambra States.
Prince Okey Nwadinobi from Abia was elected as the National Deputy President while Chief Emeka Sibeidu from Anambra State is the new Secretary General of the Igbo group

What really happened? The former IGP Mike Okoro complained earlier that the court judgement to cast aspersions on his Igbo ancestry or nativity arrived at a judgement without interrogating him to hear his own side of the case against him. I hope that Mbata was not fereted into the position to please certain persons. If not, congratulations to Chief Azuta Mbata.
