The Kebbi police command has reported that its operatives killed four suspected kidnappers and rescued a victim in the Suru Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Nafi’u Abubakar, the command spokesperson, announced that the police also recovered N3 million in ransom.

“On February 14, at approximately 1:45 pm, armed men believed to be kidnappers invaded Gobiraje Village in Suru Local Government Area and abducted a 60-year-old man, Umaru Bawa,” the statement reads.

“Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer for Suru promptly mobilised a team of policemen and local vigilantes to the scene. The team tracked the suspects to Tundafari Forest in the Dakingari area, where a gunfight ensued.

“As a result, four kidnappers were killed, one was apprehended with serious injuries, while others fled into the forest with gunshot wounds.”

The spokesperson stated that Bello Sani, the Kebbi police commissioner, praised the officers for their resilience and professionalism in Suru, pledging to continue the fight against crime in the state.

The police commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station without delay.
