Two suspects involved in the murder of the late Hon. Justice Azuka, who represented the Onitsha 1 Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, have managed to escape.

In response, CP Ikioye Orutugu, PhD, has ordered the deployment of all available human, operational, and intelligence resources of the Command to re-arrest the suspects. He has also directed immediate disciplinary action against any officers found negligent in this matter.

A statement from the Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, noted: “Preliminary information indicates that following the confession of the criminal gang, two of the suspects were assisting the police investigating officers during an operation aimed at apprehending the receiver and recovering the operational vehicles used in their unlawful activities.

“During the operation, the receiver was arrested, and two vehicles believed to have been stolen from unsuspecting members of the public were recovered. Regrettably, the other two suspects fled the scene.

“In light of these events, the CP has assured the public that the Command is actively pursuing all criminal elements in the state, and efforts are underway to ensure that the suspects are re-arrested and justice is served. Additionally, any errant officers will face disciplinary action if found culpable.”
